A real soft would not be without all the credits and the little ending notes regarding the people and their unconfessed whishes on KEGS, “l’Emulateur-ki-tue”. So here there are...
On KEGS, this wonderful emulator. The Original Unix code was made by Kent Dickey which is currently working at Intel. He recently wrote us that he’s looking forward to see the Finder Desktop on MacOS X !
The first port outside the Unix environment was done on Windows and became KEGS Win32 by akilgard (at) yahoo.com.
Based on this code, Frédéric Devernay built KEGS 0.61 in December 2001 using the possibilities of the SDL libraries, changing a lot on video drivers and keeping the source code up to date at http://devernay.free.fr/apple2/
Lots of wonderful people took part of the development, and each provided a part we can now use such as drivers, joystick support, sounds emulation… They allow KEGS to be “programmed on the metal” as more as we did…
The Mac OS X Engineering was done by Benoît Dardelet and Darrell Walisser, then with Gilles Tschopp. For all the details on the port and what really happened, look at the What is it ? part of the web site. Plus, we would like to thank all the following people for their help and advices :
– Frédéric Devernay for the SDL port and time spent to be sure we make things that other OSes could do (or will one day do...)
– Brian Covey and the Omnigroup for their wonderful working done on the ONI game. Plus the MacPlay Team for their advices at Apple Expo on “how to make good games” and showing me some of their little secrets.
– AvosMac Magazine, Lionel from the Macbidouille website, Le Pommier Members and the Mac Lab for wonderful tricks on MacOS X.
– The Gog’s for the good old days and allowing us to use Nucleus, Alex Lee “Mister 2GS memory” for all the demos we could used, Henrik from the Bernie Team for showing us what an emulator should be.
– All the testers that dared to try it : Tony from Toulouse, Eric from Colorado, Shawn (?), Cheezy from Paris, FPP and Alex.
– Robyn Whitney from Tasmania, for chasing and correcting English spelling and grammar mistakes of casaGS.
– And finally Apple Computer Inc. for Mac OS X and FPP for all the downloads.
– And of course, all other people we might have forgotten to mention them here !
